The Theosophy Library website along with the programs and classes of Universal Theosophy are an independent endeavor, run entirely by volunteers, and made possible by donations from our online community.
Here are what the funds are needed for:
- To support a vigorous content addition program (see list below)
- Funds to support the completion of the online Secret Doctrine Project (almost half completed)
- Funds to modernize and optimize the Universal Theosophy website as a whole (nearly complete)
- Establish and Maintain a monthly newsletter/blog “The Vortex” (completed: to be announced in April)
- Run Spring and Fall Lecture Series (ongoing)
- Run Special Events: e.g. White Lotus Day, ULT Day, Great Teachers Day, etc.
- Maintain daily posts, announcements, and promotion on social media (e.g. via our Facebook page of over 2,000 subscribers)
Online Secret Doctrine Project:
See here: https://universaltheosophy.com/hpb/secretdoctrine.html
This edition includes the following:
- Updated spelling of all technical terms, names, and foreign language words.
- Corrected and updated references, given in clearly marked reference notes.
- Updated grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc.
- Updated quotations, as cross-referenced with original sources.
- Identification of all quotations, updated terms, unknown terms, esoteric source material, etc. by colorized text.
The primary goal is to provide an edition that is up to current scholarly standards and can be easily used by students as well as academics and researchers.
Content Addition Effort:
This effort is being done over at theosophylib.com, our sister-site which is dedicated to housing an online theosophical library.
- Digitize and consistently format all of Blavatsky’s writings
(note that approximately 70% of writings have been uploaded to date)
- Digitize primary theosophical periodicals:
(including: Theosophy magazine, The Theosophist and Lucifer (for the time HPB was editor), The Path, Manas Magazine (scanning is nearly complete), The Aryan Path, The Theosophical Movement, etc.)
- Update, modernize and standardize terminology, grammar, and source referencing to modern academic standards throughout all online writings.
(this is especially important so that the database uses consistent spelling of terms, which makes it possible to implement detailed word searching and research tools) - Develop a searchable online database and concordance (similar to digital biblical concordances) for the writings of HPB and WQJ.
